Or just for a suggestion on what to do here in Lewis County – the Adirondacks Tug Hill Region to liven up your stay here? We have a few itineraries here for you – whether you’re an outdoorsy person or whether you prefer to find things to do inside!

Outdoor Adventures

Snowmobilers Itinerary

A frequent choice in Lewis County for how to spend your day is – Snowmobiling!

Breakfast:

Before you head out for your adventure – stop by Pioneer Cafe or PB&J Cafe for some breakfast or coffee to wake you for your trip.

Snowmobile:

Don’t have your own machine? No worries – rent one from on of the locations listed here!

Conditions permitting you will find hundreds of miles of groomed trails here in Lewis County to explore (approx. 500 miles of trails). Whether your trip will take you up the Tug Hill to beautiful scenic views or through wooded areas – eventually you’ll find yourself hungry for more than adventure.

Lunch:

Stop by one of the many restaurants along the trails. We suggest lunching at Boondocks Restaurant and Bar or Tugger’s! Or leave it up to the trails and stop by the one closest to you when you start to feel hungry.

Snowmobile or Rest?

Had your fill of snowmobiling after lunch? Or still wanting to ride on the trails? Both choices are valid – but if you’re all done snowmobiling but still want something to do – we suggest visiting some of our local shops to browse through – like the Farmhouse Boutique, the Prim Place, or Amish Connections.

Dinner:

After a day of snowmobiling (and maybe exploring some shops) it’s time to dine! Stop by Gary’s Restaurant or jeb’s Restaurant for a delicious dinner and beer.

A Day in Osceola

snowshoeitinerary
Breakfast:

Start your outdoor day with a hearty breakfast – stop by a cafe on the way or make some local Tug Hill Artisan Roasters coffee to start your day right.

Cross Country Ski or Snowshoe:

Never been to the south western part of Lewis County? Why not make today the day you you visit? Visit Osceola Ski and Sport Resort to spend your day on their extensive trail system. You can rent your skis or snowshoes at Osceola too!

Not a snowshoer or cross country skier? Swap out Osceola for Turin and spend your day downhill skiing at Snow Ridge Resort!

Lunch:

If you’re not quite ready to leave Osceola – you can eat lunch in their building or stop by Oseola Hotel or head back into the center of Lewis County and stop in one of the towns for a late lunch.

Afternoon:

Spend the rest of your day continuing your snow themed adventures at Osceola Ski and Sport Resort – or visit one of the many trails in Lewis County (find more here). If you’ve stayed at Osceola Ski and Sport Resort wind down at one of their fire pits and soak in the fresh Lewis County air as you enjoy a beer by the warm fire.

Done with Oseola and looking for somewhere else to go? Stop at Steak n’ Brew or Towpath for dinner in Turin.

Lewis County Cuisine

Is being outside in the winter not really your thing? More of a foodie or window shopper? Then try this winter itinerary instead – one that’s mostly inside.

Breakfast/Brunch:

Whether you believe breakfast is the most important meal of the day or not – why not stop by West Martinsburg Mercantile for some fresh coffee and local made goods? Or if it’s Sunday stop by Tug Hill Vineyards for brunch!

Afternoon:

Spend your day traveling through Lewis County and visit Hopenhagen Farm (part of the cuisine trail) and Amish Connections in Copenhagen for a beautiful selection of Amish made furniture and more. Once you’re set in Copenhagen head back toward Lowville and stop at Blue Bird Candles for some local made wonderfully scented candles.

From Blue Bird Candles head towards Croghan for your next stop on the Cuisine trail – Croghan Meat Market! Try some local favorites like Croghan Bologna. Croghan has a beautiful downtown with plenty of shops to visit like Buckingham Hardware or the Croghan Candy Kitchen!

Make your way through Lowville and stop at the Cozy Country Corner in downtown Lowville.

After all that shopping it’s time for a snack – Don’t forget to stop by the Lowville Cheese Store for delicious Lewis County Products!

To finish up your Cuisine focused visit of Lewis County – stop by the goat farms in Lowville (Cedar Hedge Goat Farm), Glenfield (Hidden Pastures Farm) and Turin (Autumn Ridge Goat Farm) for goat milk gelato or fresh goat cheese!

Dinner:

If the Lewis County Cuisine trial didn’t fill you up – don’t fret! Stop by Miller’s Meat Market for jerked pork or burgers to grill (or bake) – or stop by any of our local restaurants like Josh’s Riverside Restaurant in Croghan or the Cottage Inn in Copenhagen.
