Do you usually come to the Lewis County Historical Society to see the
trees and trains this time of year? Or to support our silent auction?
If your answer is yes, you should know that we are doing things a bit
differently this year. Our Home for The Holidays Festival has routinely kicked off the holiday season with such things as historic Christmas decorations, a bright festival of the trees, an eye-opening Lionel train display, and several
days of family-oriented activities. Last year, this single event alone brought
over 2,000 people through our doors in downtown Lowville; and their
generosity was significant.
For the safety of our community, we won’t be hosting this event in
person this year. Instead, we are keeping the spirit alive by taking the tree and wreath auction online! Look for “LCHS Virtual Holiday Auction” on Facebook.

The Lowville Turkey Trot, sponsored by Double Play Community Center, will hold a socially distanced event on Thanksgiving Day, November 26th. This will not be an official event, but an opportunity for everyone to get out and run or walk. Here is the plan.

  • Normal Lowville Turkey Trot starting location and 5 K course.
  • There is no registration and no fee.
  • Come to the Lowville Central School Trinity Avenue parking lot on Thanksgiving morning.
  • Arrive and be prepared to run between 7:30 and 9:30 AM. Every 15 minutes participants will take off on the course.
  • You and your family run the course when you arrive and are ready to go.
  • There will be a donation box for the Renee Beyer United Way Memorial fund. We hope participants will support this cause.
  • Bring and wear a mask.
  • Do not come if you have recently been quarantined, are sick or have any symptoms of illness, or if you have traveled outside of NYS recently. Please do not bring out of state guests.
