The Lewis County Hospital Foundation is holding a live and virtual 5K on Saturday, October 23rd. Participants will receive a t-shirt and medal. A costume contest will be held and refreshments will be served.

As a grant professional with at least a few grant applications funded, you have seen a variety of grant guidelines and requirements. You have seen the difference that grants make in your community. Yet you are also always working to build your skills and increase the competitiveness of each application you submit for your employer or your clients. We will focus on developing a compelling needs statement, writing strong SMART objectives, and telling your organization’s story in this interactive intermediate level training.

Specific objectives will be:

– How to write a compelling need statement;
– How to write  SMART objectives;
– How to enhance the way you tell your organization’s story; and
– How to increase the competitiveness of your proposals with an emphasis on proposals to foundations

Writing grants is not just about the words you use, or the statistics you utilize. It is a complicated combination of factors to engage your Grantmakers so that they say “Yes!” and you win the grant award for your organization. In “Grant Writing 101: How to Write a Grant That Wins!” we will provide you with the basic knowledge of grant writing and an increased understanding of and comfort level with what elements go into a successful grant application once you have identified an opportunity you want to apply for.

Specific objectives will be:

– How to competitively address the common key elements of a grant proposal
– How to develop an initial outline for a grant application
– How to create compelling grant application elements that tells a story
– How grant funder research and relationship building support submitting a competitive grant application


Federal, state and local law enforcement officials will be joining us to discuss current policies, procedures, and operational challenges with the stakeholders in the community and leaders of nonprofit organizations throughout Northern New York. The more educated our community can be, the better we can work with our consumers and patients to make a safer community.

This is a free event but donations to United Way of NNY are welcome.


Mind, Body, Soul, Adult Summer Camp Retreat is for anyone ages 18 and older, that are new or experienced in practicing mindfulness, meditation, yoga, aromatherapy with essential oils, and holistic self-care practices. The retreat program will include the instruction and practice of ancient mindful applications integrated with scientifically-based methods of healing. We hope you will join us to rest, restore, and rediscover.

Advances in neuroscience have led to a better understanding of how trauma and neglect affects brain development and ongoing brain functioning. We now know how to best help children heal and build resiliency. This training will discuss brain development and functioning, including how this is affected by trauma, neglect, and adverse life events, in an easy to understand manner. Parents, professionals, teachers, and others will learn the most effective strategies to use to help children heal.
