Naturally Lewis and Jefferson Community College invite you to participate in a roundtable event to discuss current and forecasted workforce needs in Lewis County. JCC requests your help in assessing the demand for transportation, warehousing, and logistics positions, and specifically, CDL-A drivers. The information gathered at this event will be used to customize upcoming training to local employer demands and to request grant funding for programming at the Lewis County JCC Education Center.  Your participation and insights are greatly appreciated.

Join your fellow maple producers on Saturday, October 9th at the Lewis County Education Center for a full day of workshops and hands on learning offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Lewis County.

Registration starts at 8:45 am with four workshops covering everything from spout types, timing of tapping, new maple products, to updates on the “Super Sweet Tree”. Hands on workshops will be held on Confections, Tubing Installation and an Sugarbush Management Woods Walk right next to the Education Center at Maple Ridge’s Sugar Bush.  

This Fall Maple School will offer a Beginner Maple Workshop providing an overview of the basics for making maple syrup, the how, when, and why of sap flow along with a hands-on activity with tapping, boiling, grading, packaging, and selling will also be covered.  

The Watertown Oswego Small Business Development Center will be onsite to talk with maple producers about their services and be available to do one on one consultations.  

Pre-registration is available for $10. and walk ins that day at $20. The ServSafe Certification is ideal for individuals who wish to prepare to take the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Exam. This one day 8-hour course will prepare your restaurant operation to meet state managed training requirements for foodservice personnel. This workshop will empower employees with the knowledge and skills they need to prepare and serve foods safely. Learn more here.

Tuition covers the cost of the ServSafe Essentials 7th Edition textbook, exam, and proctoring of the exam during the course.

The ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification exam is taken during the final 90-minutes of the course.
