Adirondacks Tug Hill

Skiing & Snowboarding

Nothing gets your adrenaline pumping in the winter time quite like downhill skiing and snowboarding.

Lewis County has one of the highest average snowfalls in the northeast, making it a skier and snowboarder’s paradise. With an average of more than 200 inches of snow annually, you’re certain to find some of the best hills you’ve ever experienced. Snow Ridge Ski Resort offers a complete skiing and snowboarding facility with seven lifts, 22 slopes and trails, a professional ski school, rental shop, cafeteria, restaurant, and lounge. The resort also has a high-volume snowmaking machine to keep all the skiers very happy on the days when there’s a little less snow on the hills. Snow Ridge provides hills with varying difficulties to accommodate the amateurs to the pro skiers and snowboarders.

Cross-Country Skiing

Abundant snowfall makes Tug Hill cross-country skiing a great way to see the great outdoors in the winter months. Cross-country skiers can choose from several trail systems in areas such as Dadville, Maple Ridge and Lewis County Fairgrounds in Lowville, Tug Hill Wildlife Management Area at Whetstone Gulf State Park and Carpenter Road in Turin. Osceola Tug Hill Ski Center located on Tug Hill Plateau is great choice for cross-country skiing, with snow falling five days a week and with 40k of daily groomed trails. A fairly young sport, Snow Kite Skiing, is also a great new sport to try. With the persistent wind of Tug Hill and the plentiful snow, it’s the perfect place to try it out.
