    Alice in Wonderland to be performed in West Leyden

    On Wednesday, July 30th at 6:30 p.m., The Merry-Go-Round Playhouse Youth Theatre will perform Alice in Wonderland, a modern version of the beloved tale by Lewis Carroll, at the handicapped accessible West Leyden Town Park, which is located at the corner of the Osceola and Mud Lake Roads. Everyone, from the young to not so young, is invited to attend this free performance.

    After the performance, the audience will be offered the opportunity to meet and greet the actors. The actors will answer questions about their performance, their acting experiences, and any questions in general. Bring your chair, your family and friends, and sit back and enjoy a family oriented performance.Homemade cookies, popcorn, and water will be available.

    The Town of Lewis Library will sponsor this program as part of the grant entitled "Enjoy a Night Out!" and the program is made possible, in part, with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.

    Lowville Village Band Summer Concert Schedule

    The Lowville Village Band will again present a series of concerts in the Lowville area this summer.
    The regular series of concerts at The Lowville Veteran’s Memorial Park will begin on Wednesday evening August 6 beginning at 7 PM.
    (If the weather is poor, the concert will be moved to a different venue.)

    There is no charge for attendance at these concerts but a free-will donation will be accepted.

  • The band will also play before the grandstand at the Lewis County Fair at 6:15 on Tuesday July 15.
  • The Lowville Village Band will also perform at Constableville Hall on Sunday June 15 at 2 PM and on Thursday June 26, and
  • The band will perform at 7 PM at St. Stephens Church in Croghan.

    Do you paddle? If so, then plan to attend RiverFest! This is a fun canoe and kayak event for everyone to simply enjoy the Black River.
    We encourage everyone to PRE-REGISTER

    You can pay via credit/debit card or by sending a check to the Chamber before July 30th. (Check must be received in the office by July 30th), you can also pay with cash or check the day of the event!

    Each paddler must complete & sign BOTH the Chamber Release of Liability form and the appropriate (adult/minor) ACA Membership form.

    COST: $5.00 per paddler to cover the cost of insurance

    16th Annual All Day Gospel Concert

    Again this year, Carthage will be holding their All Day Gospel Concert. This will be held on Saturday, August 2 from 11:00am to 7:00pm,with special guests entertaining all day. The 16th annual gospel concert was arranged by Heavensbound and will have NY locals playing throughout the day.

    To start out the day we will have as our first special guests, The Proverbs. This group has received the CGMA Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the advancement of Gospel Music in Canada. It is a privilege to have The Proverbs participate this year!

    8 groups playing for 8 hours

    The concert will be held at the gazebo at Turning Point Park located next to JRECKS in Carthage.

    Annual Race with the Wind

    The Lewis County Department of Recreational Trails and the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce presents the "Annual Race with the Wind Mountain and Cross Bike Race" on Sunday, August 16, 2014.

    The race offers two different routes, with the 46-mile Gravel Grinder Endurance Race and the 10-mile Fun Race, which is great for beginners and families. Both routes will take place off-road with some single-track trails under the shadows of the largest wind farm east of the Mississippi on the Tug Hill Plateau in Lewis County, NY. The routes are surrounded by the natural beauty that Lewis County has to offer, from the evergreen and hardwood forests to the natural wildlife.

    Registration begins at 8:30am on the morning of the race at the Maple Ridge Wind Farm Welcome Center on Eagle Factory Road, Lowville. The registration fee for the 46-mile race is $35 and $20 for the 10-mile community race. Racers 18 and under are free.

    The 46-mile race starts at 10:00am, while the community race will start at 10:30am.

    Whether you’re looking for an intense 46-mile ride or a 10-mile family fun ride, this race offers it all plus a thrilling setting. So come “Race with the Wind” on August 16, 2014.

    Annual Fall Black-Moose Kayak Event
    Lyons Falls Alive and local kayakers are hosting the "Annual Fall Black-Moose Kayak Event" in Lyons Falls, NY.

    The Moose River makes for one of the greatest Class III, IV & V Kayaking in the USA there is also flat water paddling on the Black River.

    Camping will be available at Riverside Park on Laura St where the Moose River joins the Black River. The cost for one campsite for 2 days of camping is $10. For those of you who prefer warmer accommodations, The Edge Hotel on Rt 12 in Lyons Falls. Visit their website: www.theedgehotel.com
